Dreary Day

Its cold and dreary but the rain has let up some. Abbie is doing great, but I am still fighting some kind of infection which has now settled in my chest. I will be at the doctor getting it checked tomorrow unless something miraculous happens and it heals itself overnight. Abbie and I have been quite the slugs! Well, thats appropriate for this house since there are slugs everywhere.......(not real ones of course). Abbie and I will probably make a McDonalds run tomorrow since she didn't get to make her run on Sunday. In this picture she was on the bed getting ready to sleep. She's a happy little dog.

Forgot to post.....

Yesterday was a lazy day and Abbie and I forgot to blog. My apologies to her parents. It has rained everyday since the snow fell and it is just dark and dreary outside. Of course, Abbie and I don't care because we hang out inside and play with her toys, she gets her treats and sometimes I make her do tricks because she is just so darn cute. I think she likes to make ME do tricks too because yesterday she was playing some game with me. She would bark at me and I would ask her what she wanted and she would run to the door. So, I get up and go to the door thinking that she wanted to go out. I would go to the door and open it and she would stare at me with those soulful brown eyes as if to say 'I didn't want to go out'. We played this game several times before I finally figured out.....she wasn't going out there in the rain unless I went out there with her. I don't know who is sitting who sometimes but she definitely had the upper hand yesterday. So, what do I do.......I put on all my raingear, my boots and bundle up to walk outside with her. Then, once we were outside, she takes off in the back north 40 somewhere leaving me to look like a dope in the driveway. Don't ever believe anyone that tells you dogs do not know how to think on her own. I am sure if I could have seen her face, her little teeth were showing and she was chuckling...hehehehehehehehehehe just like she is here in this picture.

White on White.....

Abbie and I watched the snow move in about 8pm last night. This is what we found this morning. It is currently snowing but there is rain intermittently. It doesn't matter because she and I just sit in the kitchen and watch it out the back door. It is so beautiful here, she is a lucky canine.

Other than that, nothing new to report. That's a good thing! We are just hanging out!!!

Snow, Rain, Snow, Rain, Snow, Rain...Can't make up its mind!

Abbie and I have been hanging out watching the weird weather through the front door. We have had rain, snow, freezing rain, wind and even some sunshine. Our weather is all confused. But we are watching it together and that is what matters. Things are kind of slow for me right now because the holidays are over and my days aren't filled with a million things to do. I am actually enjoying the rest and relaxation with Abbie because I know it won't last for long. She is getting spoiled as usual. She sure looks good for her age, I should be so lucky. I have noticed the hind quarters giving out a bit, but all in all, she is doing very well. I am so thankful because if anything happened to her I will be a basket case! I am so close to her. Here is a picture of her (taken on my phone so not as sharp) on the front porch. It had actually just begun to snow. She went out and then turned around as if to say 'You want me to go out in THIS!'. She came right back in the house. Everything is fine on the home front. I will be mailing a package off to the desert by the end of the week. Hope Mom and Dad are having fun and hope Mom got rid of that nasty cold.

Abbie and I bring in the New Year

I arrived yesterday with goodies in hand for the Abbie Girl. She was very excited to see me. I have the most fantastic job in the world. Everytime I show up for work there are wagging tails and abundant licks showing their love for me. Now, who can beat that? Abbie looks very good. Her coat looks a little shorter and she is just as cute as ever. She is probably happy that she had her family here for the holidays. Especially when there are kids around. I am sure the grandkids leave droppings around for her to scarf up but she doesn't look like she has gained an ounce.

I was excited to see a very nice gift for me from Abbie and her family. The gift was great but more importantly the sentiment in the card was very touching. I am glad that I can be there for both Abbie and her Parents. I strive to do the best job I can because I know how important it is to know that your animal is well taken care of and you don't have to worry about them while you are gone. I give Abbie lots of love and she returns the favor. Thank you to her family for the generous gift and it will get a lot of use!!!! And the picture of Abbie.....Beautiful!!!

Abbie is showing her patience in this shot. I received a new phone for Christmas and this is a shot in Sepia showing just how much patience Abbie Girl has! Of course she got to eat the cookie when I was done making her wait so patiently. Everything on the homefront is perfect!!! We are expecting snow today. Why is it it always snows when I am here??? hummmmmmm?????

Bahhhhhh Humbug!

Scout wasn't happy that I was trying to dress him in his Santa Hat. But he really is a happy kitty. He is full of personality and loves it when I come to feed him. His mommy won't be happy because he insists on going on the living room sofa where he is NOT suppose to be. But, he only does it when I am not there. I can tell when I come into the house he is jumping off that sofa because the blanket is down. I keep telling him he is going to get in trouble when Mommy gets home. If cats could talk I am certain he would say 'So what?' He is doing great and eating like a champ!

Scout Kitty

Scout is doing well. He still loves his cat house, well I should say his 'cat condo'. He has enough toys and gadgets to keep any cat happy for days. He has gotten used to my routine twice a day and greets me at the door and usually ends up rolling around on the steps until I sit down and pet him and pull his tail. He likes that. He gets brushed every morning and at night I play the laser games. By the way there are these three lasers on the table and I just HAVE to have some like them so I need to remind his mommy and daddy to tell me where they got them! They are cool. Anyway, as you can tell I am more into them than Scout is because he barely chases the single red dot before giving up. But he loves his feathers and he loves to chat while I clean his box and feed him or wash his bowl. He is doing great.

Santa Pawsssssss

Well, we made it through the night and the pups are not fazed by anything that goes on. They were anxious to get their pictures taken for the Christmas Blog (even though they are part Jewish). Of course, it only took about 40 attempts and a bunch of cookies, but we managed.
They are all doing fine. They could care less if we have partial outage of electricity and gas and we are all just hanging out today.

WOW....WHAT A NIGHT!!!!

You know that scene in the Wizard of Oz where the house picks up and twirls around and around.....I swear this house was going to do that. We had winds up to 70 miles per hour last night here at the farm. The dogs were up all night, I was up all night....we just kept waiting. I was going over in my head what my escape plan would be and how would I get all these animals in my car! It was the craziest thing. I could hear stuff flying off the deck and hitting the glass door. I was afraid something would come through those doors or a window. The whole house shook for hours. When daylight hit, I put on my coat and shoes and went to feed the horses. That is when I found all the debri everywhere. There is tree droppings all over the horses area. There is a lot of debri in their water which I must work on shortly. A tree is down on the road to the horses and I can't drive down the trail so I walked down to feed them this morning. I started up the road to get out as I have a cat to feed twice a day and there is an even larger tree trapping that road. So, I called my friend to come and rescue me. I will climb over the tree and have her take me to my cat feed. Its crazy.

Scout the Muncher

Scout is doing extremely well. He hasn't shown any interest in going outside. But he does love me to brush him and play with his feather. Last night he sat in his little bed and let me pet him for a long time. He's doing great and eating like a champ!

Meet Scout!

Scout is my newest member to the Playful Paw family. He is a beautiful Gray Tabby color but has Manx in his line. He is very social with me when I come to visit. I made my first visit last night and he was cordial, spoke to me and rubbed up against my legs while I was fixing his dinner. He seems to be quite comfortable in his surroundings and loves to be on his cat furniture. I made a visit this morning and he was the same way. He never runs for the door and was happy that there was someone there to play with him. I gave him some wet food this morning and then cleaned his box. He crawled up on his cat pole and wanted to play with his feather. So, I played with him for quite a while and he seems very content. And....surprisingly, he never gestured to go out the back door. So, all is well on the Scout front!

HAPPY HOWLIDAYS!

Kira and Joe are ready for Christmas. Have you ever tried to make a CAT wear a Hat.....other than Dr. Seuss? Joe was really good posing for me but his attention span is short.....he was over it after about 10 seconds. On the other hand, Kira will sit as long as I want her too, provided I have a cookie in one hand. Awwww....the tricks of the trade. One would think I don't have a life. But I do......its just in the animal kingdom!
Anyway, Kira and Joe are excellent. They are behaving and we squeeze in some walking time in between the storm! Joe is just happy if I feed him. Kira chased the laser light for hours so she is tuckered out right now.
All is well on the homefront!

Kira and JoeJoe

I arrived yesterday at 1pm. Kira was excited to see me and so was Joe. Both greeted me at the door. It rained all day so we just played with toys and hung out. I have been here today, all day. We have been very mellow today. There have been some sun breaks so Kira has been able to go out and run around. I sometimes wonder where she goes. I am going to follow her one day. When I call for her, she comes running as fast as she can.
JoeJoe has been very affectionate. He has been on my lap and come up just to visit, but his favorite spot is under the Christmas Tree. He seems to be leaving the ornaments alone so I let him be there as long as I can watch him.
No camera today, but stay tuned for their Christmas picture tomorrow!!! Everything is fine on the homefront.

Ready for Christmas

Its the first day of December and Abbie is ready for the Pawlidays!
Ok, so its a little corny, but the dogs love me :-).

She's been quiet the past couple of days. Today is no rain so she has gone outside and buried her bone twice now. She went back to look for it after I made her do her costume duty and she couldn't find it. Wonder if dogs start to lose their memory in their senior years like I do....er, I mean like others do? Right now she is asleep at my feet and just seems to be as content as can be. I am sure she will be quite excited to see her mommy and daddy on Saturday. I realize this is my business, but what a business. I am very lucky and never take advantage of the fact that I have the greatest clients/friends who trust me with their animals. I love each of them individually and all of them are like children, they each have their own personality. I really do become an extension of their family as they put all their trust in me and I would never betray that trust. I'm a lucky gal to have ALL the animal friends that I have. I wish all of my clients and their fur children the best of Holidays and a most properous New Year!!!!!!

The French Fry Terminator

Abbie and I made our McDonald's run. She got to ride shot gun this time and I put the seat belt on her. She fits perfect there and she sits just the right way to get the belt on. Anyway, here is a shot of her getting her french fry. Flattering, eh???

More of Abigail

Abbie is doing great. And, can you believe it? Not a lick of snow left on the ground. She wasn't that fond of the snow because it was so cold, but she suffered through it. I bought her two chew bones from Mud Bay and she whizzed through them. I thought they may last her a while but she doesn't play around......she knaws that thing until its gone.

I have noticed she is having a little trouble with her back legs. They sometime go out from under her. She has a slight tremor in her right leg but it usually doesn't hinder her. I suspect it is the cold that is making her poor little bones creak....just like mine!

Tomorrow is our McDonald's Day. So, she will get her french fries.

PRE-THANKSGIVING SNOW BLAST!!!!

It's Tuesday morning and these are some pictures of our current snow conditions. The one night shot is from last night and the other two are from this morning. Although these were taken at a most beautiful setting, don't be fooled. There is nothing but chaos on the streets of Washington. The temperature is 19 degrees with a wind chill factor of 7. It is suppose to get colder and icier if you can believe that! But, all the animals are in good hands, keeping warm and everyone has electricity so far. This has been an incredible 24 hours.

Snow at my house......

Thought I'd show the snow from my house.....seems all of Washington is a blanket of white today!

Abbie the Snow Angel

Abbie and I woke up to a little snow but as the morning wore on it began to snow harder and harder. I couldn't believe how much came down in such a very short time. I had to go check on my own puppies and it was NOT FUN. I don't mind driving in the snow but the ice will kill ya! They say it is 30 degrees but expecting high winds bringing the windchill factor down to 19. I was gone a short time before heading back as I didn't want to get snowed out and not be able to get to Abbie. So, she and I are hunkered down for the day. But not before we took a couple of picures!!!

Snow at the Farm

Well, today it snowed EVERYWHERE. The streets are treacherous and Kathy will be stuck at the farm until the snow lets up. She may have to move in with Ruggles, Cassie and Sunny!!!!! But it is beautiful. All the pets are holed up in the living room now but Kathy had them out playing in the snow today. She even walked down to the horses and played with them a while.

Spoiled Abbie and Snow

As you can see Abbie has chosen to be inside instead of out in the snow. I have been here since 10am this morning and it has been snowing since I arrived. The difference between the snow here and the snow at the Farm where I left this morning is that this snow isn't sticking so far. Its a wet snow but still very pretty. Abbie's mommy said she really likes to go make snow angels too but today she isn't leaving my side. Of course, it could be those treats hanging out of her mouth, ya think????? She is doing well and since I have been here so much she just acts like she expects me to be here. Today is Sunday and we usually go to McDonalds for a French Fry day but we may hold off until this week. She will definitely get to go one day. We will be spending Thanksgiving alone together. My family will not be here so its just Abbie and me. I can't think of a better companion for Thanksgiving Day because every day I thank God for her!!!!

Just a Snow shot.....

White Morning

This is what we woke up to this morning. Ruggles went out and laid in her back and rolled around like he was making snow angels. Cassie kept eating the snow and Sunny could have cared less. But, I must admit it was beautiful UNTIL I had to leave. The hills were very icy and my poor little lightweight car was swaying back and forth in some spots. Today is the 'changing of the guards' so I left this morning and Kathy is on her way there now. Her car seems to do a little better and she has chains. One way or the other.....no pets go unattended,,,,,just the way it is in my world!!!!!

Kira and Joe fairing well

Just thought I would blog to let Kira and Joe's mommy and daddy know that there was no power last night for about 8 hours. It actually went out in the morning around 11am. Checking with Safeway and McDonalds at Four Corners, they were closed up because of the power problem. But, it came back on around 1pm and stayed up until last night. But, all is well now and everyone has TV and lights (Kathy is there).

P.S.

The birds are happy too!

Back at the Farm

No Rain today. YEAH! But the weekend is calling for snow. The pups are doing great and enjoying outside before the weather gets too bad. The horses are getting their blankets on today as the temp is dropping into the 40's and 30's in the next few days. Ruggles is in her favorite spot in the house and is content to just go out to pee. The dynamic duo, Cassie and Sonny are always in play mode. But, I brought them some bones yesterday so that keeps them happy for a while. Everyone is doing fine!

Kira happy as a clam

As you can see Kira has no problem winding down and it always seems to be on a lap. But just to prove she is getting some excercise, we included her ball time picture. We keep trying to go for a long walk but it is POURING here and it would be nice if the rain would let up just a little. She is doing great and loving the new bones I bought her at Costco!!!!

Abbie posing

Abbie just seems to pose when I bring the camera out. I think she knows her mommy and daddy are coming home soon. She is just content to sit with her stuffed bone and watch my every move. Its raining so she doesn't want to hang out very much. She will be very happy to see the family!

Abbie ready for her walk

Abbie is her usual sweet self. Its been cold and windy and there are leaves all over the ground. She wanted to go for a walk so we put on her NIKE hat so her little head wouldn't get cold. I swear, I could put a suit of armour on her and she would just sit there and let me. Of course, we know who the smarter of the two is.......she KNOWS she gets a cookie its all over. She is doing well and loving all the attention.

Kira and Joe Kitty

Kira and Joe are doing great. We have had some sunshine, so Kira gets to hang outside a little while during the day. She is such a good dog....she loves to play in her big back yard and she also loves the treats I bring her (besides her own that her mommy buys her). The other night she took a running bound down the hall and jumped right on top of me in the bed. It was hilarious. She got a bug up her butt and wanted to play I guess.
Joe is always social when I come over and he was no different the first day I was there. He jumped up on the table and meowed and rubbed up against me. He surely wanted attention. But, the next morning I couldn't find him anywhere. I must have looked for half an hour. I didn't know about his new cat house in the bedroom and when it caught my eye, that's when I saw him just barely peeking his head out. He is so BIG, I don't know how he gets in there and turns around. This picture was taken after he saw me and he poked his head out. They are both so DARN cute!!!

November has arrived!

Fall is really in the air. The beautiful leaves are al over the ground and its REALLY cold outside in the morning. I will be posting Kira, Joe and Abbie shortly, so stay tuned!

Petunia and Punkin

Of course, my dogs have to get in on the action. Mommy dresses them up every year and they are ever so happy (yeah, right). Today they were all wound up as they haven't seen me in a few days so it was hard to keep them busy while I snapped their photos. But, just as I spoil ALL my pooches, they got treats when they were done. Oh....and my cat....well, she is going as a cat this year as she does every year. If I came at her with a hat she would haul upstairs as she is a NOT a willing participant in the festivities. Punkin is the Witch as she outgrew her Pumpkin costume and the baby, Putunia barely fit in the Pumpkin costume.
P.S....read down further for All of the Halloween Pets!

Sparky Witch and Jenna Old Lady.......

Sparky and Jenna were not as willing participants in this year's Halloween Get Up, but they succumbed to my persistence. Of course, treats always help. Sparky could care less and Jenna knew there was a treat at the end so she settled down long enough to snap the photo. They are so cute.....I'm already working on their next year's costume!!!! I think Batman and Robin would be cute....eh????? Anyway, they are great and having a good time with me and Kathy!!!!

Abbie Waiting patiently

As you can see, Abbie is patiently waiting the Trick or Treaters tonight. She has her bag ready in case anyone brings some bones!

Abbie ready for Halloween

Abbie is ready for Halloween. Okay, so she might be wearing her collar as a hat, but doesn't she look MAHVELOUS!!! She is always ready for the Trick or Treaters. We have spent many Halloweens together and she is just as happy to dress up this year as she has been in the previous years I have tortured her. She also got some treats for Halloween so that makes her happy as well. She is doing great as usual and is anxious to see all the little ones in their costumes. HAPPY HOWL-A-WEEN!

Sparky and Jenna

Sparky and Jenna are having fun in the little bit of sunshine we have had over the past week. Nothing really gets them down and they are just as happy running through the rain as they are in the sun. Jenna spotted the biggest brown rabbit I have ever seen and she hasn't forgotten about it since. That was a week ago! Everytime she goes out, she goes right back to the place she last saw that rabbit and looks to see if it is still there. The funny thing is....it USUALLY IS! I can't scare that rabbit off no matter what. Its HUGE!
They are both having fun with me and Kathy and everything is calm on the homefront. Tomorrow is Halloween so watch for their dress up pictures!!!!

Sunday, September 26, 2010

Abbie and I went for a walk today. It managed to clear up for a minute and we took full advantage of it. She is doing well and we are spending a lot of time together considering I have to go check on my pups and visit the farm for a short time. But the rest of the time is spent with her. We walked, watched movies and she was very happy with her McDonald's run today. Yes, she is no longer French Fry deprived. She hung out a lot of the day today. She seems to like it more outside now. But she still likes jumping up on the bed (via the stool) and cuddling with me. She is the best!
